joo heng

tau jeon song fish head

the taujeon fish head was good…the head though not super fresh but still ok.

i think my own song fish head is just as good or better la….

fried liver with ginger & spring onions

fried liver with ginger & spring onions

fried liver with ginger & spring onions was the best dish, not better than the song fish head, but very good dish that i don’t usually eat or order.

liver was done just right, tender, pinkish & tasty.

i did this couple times at home later. i think mine also just as good.

pork ribs with bitter gourd

pork ribs with bitter gourd

the pork ribs bittergourd not that good.

not tasty enough, the black bean sauce not into the bittergourd enough & the pork ribs not tender enough.

i made this afterwards for my friends, using green pepper. my pepper flavours was good but my pork ribs also not tender enough, so mine not better.

prawn paste chicken

prawn paste chicken quite pedestrian.

sambal potato leaves

i like sambal potato leaves.

this was good, but the usual zichar standard so nothing much to say la…

S$84 quite ex 3pax

price S$84 for 3pax too steep for this kind of food la…won’t come back here.

tau jeon song fish head

i really like song fish head as a dish.

any preparations still very nice, even if it was no better than elsewhere, it was still very nice here.

Chicken Korma – 63rd Teban Gardens Community Breakfast on 6Jul2018

chicken korma

made chicken korma for teban gardens community breakfast this morning on 6.7.2018.^^

this my 63rd friday breakfast community meal dish at teban gardens community service centre.

i first started doing a community meal dish for teban gardens CSC on 8.1.2016.

the centre was started in 2002 after much effort & challenge by our RI friend who is a pastor of pasir panjang hill brethren church (pphbc) which owns & runs the CSC.

chicken korma

the dish looked & tasted delicious.

it was though a uncommon taste so i was not sure if the teban gardens residents would like it.

3kg frozen boneless chicken thighs

i had the usual 3kg frozen boneless chicken thighs from sheng shiong, drained in a colander.

babas chicken korma paste

babas chicken korma paste

the i marinated with the babas korma paste overnight in the fridge.

chicken korma

in the morning, added sliced ginger & curry leaves to 2 tbsp vegetable oil then added chopped garlic.

then added in the marinated chicken pieces & stirred & mixed thoroughly all on high heat.

then covered on medium heat. there is a lot of liquids in the chicken so no need to add water.

added 200ml coconut milk & mixed thoroughly. removed cover & turned to high heat.

i then removed the chicken so they would not be overcooked, and reduced the gravy to make it more intense & flavourful. ^^

chicken korma

then i added back the gravy.

chicken korma

a wonderful dish full of flavours.

the centre director R later replied “Most enjoyed the chicken, something different. It was tasty. 👍🏻👍🏻” so the not so common dish was ok afterall.

hokkien prawn noodles S$6

went with wife & sis & bil to meiling street food centre.

the xinlu fishball noodles was closed so we had to try other stalls.

wife ordered the hokkien mee S$6.

it was very good, both in taste & also the ingredients and quantity.

yongtaufu S$4

i ordered the yongtaufu, but today somehow it was not great…maybe not good..pedestrian…

1/2 braised duck S$18

sis ordered 1/2 braised duck S$18.

this one of the the worst braised duck i had. duck had no taste, texture on the soft side was ok but not sweet or tasty…odd actually as the braising sauce tasted ok.

i would never buy from this stall.

Char Kuay Teow 1.0 (Recipe) on 1Jul2018

char kuay teow

made char kuay teow for myself this vening on 1.7.2018. ^^

of course i did not have kuay teow, so just use the little bit of leftover yellow noodles, char mee in that sense. lol! 🙂

char kuay teow

actually the key ingredient in char kuay teow is the sweet dark sauce, unless you are making white char kuay teow.

char kuay teow

i didn’t have much ingredients this evening, so just cut chilli padi, cut spring onions, chopped garlic, egg & some iberico pork.

char kuay teow

very easy to make.

just add chopped garlic, cut chilli & spring onions in 1 tbsp oil & fry.

add iberico shabu pork (or small prawns) and sliced fish cakes, then add noodles (& kuay teow) after washed clean & drained in colander, and add 1 egg.

let egg white formed & browned a bit then mix the noodles & the egg.

add 1tbsp sweet dark sauce (to taste). all on high heat!

char kuay teow

very good wok hae!

noodles very tasty & “pang”.

easy dish, nice to eat, but too much carbs la!
