fish balls & “her kiau”

hup kee fishball noodles

wanted to have fishball noodles at xin lu (新路) teochew fish ball noodles @ mei chin food centre yesterday, but it was closed (thrsday?). so looked round & found this stall, hup kee.

price was slightly cheaper at S$2.50 (xin lu now S$3). there were 3 fishballs but also 2 fishmeat dumplings (her kiau) c/w 6 fishballs at xin lu. fishballs were almost as good, little less bouncy but sweet. 🙂 noodles were good too, qq & with good chilli mix though i still think xin lu is better. this was certainly far better than the one i had at food opera ion orchard b4 recently.

still the jalan tua kong meepok tar remains my favourite. 🙂
