very tasty and flavourful 豆油鸡 soy sauce chicken perfect texture even though frozen boneless thighs and very nice Tai Hua chicken marinade
ah yat style garlic hk steamed group fish head basically hk steam just fry lots of chopped garlic w/o brown and add 2.5tbsp light soy sauce, 1/2tsp sugar, 3 tbsp oil and 4tbsp water…really “pang” and tasty.
went for early walk 5km to rail mall with wife this morning started 6.50am on 2.5.2021.^^
met brother & sil & WF on the way and we finished at rail mall where brother’s car was parked…
brother brought us to bukit panjang market & fc & bought duck noodles.
there was a queue I guess this zhen wei braised duck noodles quite popular here…
braised duck mediocre not flavourful “pang” quite below par actually. liver, tau kua & egg also pedestrian below par.. plus 1/2duck $23 not particularly cheap too not sure why there was a queue..anyway individual taste..
wife bought 4pax family early birthday dinner for JH @ amo hong kong street on 1.5.2021. ^^
and of course grandson mr k is in attendance. 🙂
amo is good standard restaurant…just few shops away from foc…I have not tried foc recently…past experience has been foc food better, tastier and also lower price than amo…especially iberico rack, rack of lamb and squid ink paella & also fiduea.
today we had burrata which is good and competent..
joie is a modern japanese fusion vegetarian restaurant by dozo (which is a modern japanese european restaurant i frequented a lot in the past and my eldest daughter had her 21st birthday party long while back).
the long break I had was since 2015. …recently I came with 3 other friends 2 months back. today is my 4th visit to joie.
my friends were suitably impressed.
the dishes were all good – charcoal tempura, button mushrooms mozzarella as escargot…bai ling mushrooms for japanese paper hotpot, crepes mushroom soup etc.
my monkey head mushroom “steak” on hoba leaf 朴叶good as always.
I have not tried the other 2 main dishes…the wild rice and eggplant terrine looked really good..the layered pastry should be good too…will try next time.
had a great time together and lovely fusion japanese vegetarian …
