amo is good standard restaurant…just few shops away from foc…I have not tried foc recently…past experience has been foc food better, tastier and also lower price than amo…especially iberico rack, rack of lamb and squid ink paella & also fiduea.
today we had burrata which is good and competent..
joie is a modern japanese fusion vegetarian restaurant by dozo (which is a modern japanese european restaurant i frequented a lot in the past and my eldest daughter had her 21st birthday party long while back).
the long break I had was since 2015. …recently I came with 3 other friends 2 months back. today is my 4th visit to joie.
my friends were suitably impressed.
the dishes were all good – charcoal tempura, button mushrooms mozzarella as escargot…bai ling mushrooms for japanese paper hotpot, crepes mushroom soup etc.
my monkey head mushroom “steak” on hoba leaf 朴叶good as always.
I have not tried the other 2 main dishes…the wild rice and eggplant terrine looked really good..the layered pastry should be good too…will try next time.
had a great time together and lovely fusion japanese vegetarian …

this my weekly homecooked dishes for my brother family, started since 3apr2020 covid circuit breaker (CB), and my brother cooks weekly dinner for my family in return on tuesdays.
had 2pax early birthday lunch for my close RI bro NCL @ basilico on 26.4.2021.^^
this 3-course lunch now S$68pax (S$65pax few weeks back) with 1 for 1 amex love dining discounts….excellent value at S$34++pax after discounts…before coffee was included now no…
nice antipasto platter and cheese dessert platters.
for mains NCL had risotto fruit di mare. very tasty I know and excellent risotto.
I had tagliata di manzo beef tenderloin sweet & tender though i like previous sirloin medium rare better.
antipasto famous at basilico and the cheese platter top draw too.
had a wonderful lunch with a close friend.
service at basilico excellent every time…
parking was like S$13.38 and we drove 2 cars…lukily server got us 2 free parking….heng ah!
had char kuay teow @ hai kee telok blangah crescent with Lisa on 22.4.2021.^^
for me this the best ckt in Singapore alongside hill street ckt….

almost same, maybe hill street somewhat better …here cannot add cockles but uncle gave us lots of cockles for $4.. uncle showed me the amount of cockles he added for our normal $4 though cannot add hum..
also lots of larpok and ckt very tasty so $4 basically same as hill street $6(add cockles).

everyone loved the crackling blistered roast pork, very tender and juicy inside, made one of my best roast pork this evening haha!
cockles were so large and fresh and poached nicely…excellent with the chilli dips!
all the dishes were good! everyone especially liked the claypot rice, so tasty & flavourful…
& the ter kar and tanhoon prawns too…perfect texture and flavours…
chicken and fish head also good & delicious
& I can see the spinach was in short supply very quickly….
we had a really fun evening! wonderful get together and fellowship of old RI schoolmates & bros…
we selected our own sushi moriawase from the ala carte menu-aburi otoro, uni, akami, hamachi and unagi, I think about S$90.
sushi of course fresh and sweet…we think though can get much better value at kuirya dining…
had a great dinner conversation and sharing with this friend couple.
