exquisite 5-course dinner with 4 amuse bouche.

prices getting steeper and steeper…I just took a look now (6.12.2021…won’t go back at these prices..lunch or dinner…)

overall, our last dinner here jun2018 was much better – food and also prices.

we had their anniversary menu-I think like restaurants’s 6 year consecutive michelin star anniversary

really good – 4 amuse bouche (snacks) …petit four so so.

5 course with champagne..wife took the wine pairing..

the uni dish of course magnificent.

Hokkaido scallops the best dish…never served such a huge scallop…perfect texture and sweetness…simply delicious..

pigeon breast was done well…nothing spectacular…had much better pigeon before at Jaan and in Amsterdam…the thigh with claws not a great presentation…supposed to mesh in with the branch artistry??? dish was ok of course…competent…

restaurant was fully booked.

good fishball noodles… hup kee fishball noodles not bad actually. on 2.9.2021.^^

2 fishballs, 1kiow (fish dumplings) 1 large mixed fish ball plus fish cakes for S$3.50..

I asked for 1/2 portion meepok added 2 fishballs S$0.70

the noodles was qq & chilli sauce was tasty.so overall a much above avergae fishball noodles, a fair proxy when xin lu (新路) is not available/closed, which is now at 1.20pm

food centre table very clean “everyone” returned trays lol!

added large orh lua oyster omelette $22 not so great no need to add not worth the money.

had 5pax family sunday lunch @ kai gardens with wife, wen, PT, SL on 15.8.2021.^^

we took the S$128++ peking duck business set lunch for 4pax and dded couple dimsum – steamed pork ribs and xo cheong fun. 🙂

the 2 appetisers – deep-fried fish skin salted egg flavoured not so salty was excellent, and the 小笼包very good too.

the set was wonderful as before.

peking duck among the best, as good or better than imperial treasure super peking duck. I like the crispy corn fritter which is unique and added texture to the peking duck roll.

after the skin, the restaurant served the chopped duck nicely – greedy us elected to eat than tapao. 🙂

the soup 例汤 was excellent.

garoupa fillet very good,

and the truffle angel hair was delicious, the best! really excellent…I will try making this myself…

unfortunately beng san had acute colic couldn’t join..still delivered one soy chicken..

I added shitake mushrooms & dumplings 水饺 for the hotpot..the 酸菜汤was excellent!

we ordered 2 sets (new jap theme special set dinner menu by chef Gabriel really excellent!) to share-

1 hotate tataki with cauliflower, jap curry cous cous & cauliflower puree (I going to try making this dish)

2 mentaiko & crabmeat pasta – really delicious..chef Gabriel every pasta great!)

3 NZ venison ..really excellent! the best non beef steak la

4macha panna cotta..very good dessert..though I like his tiramisu & usual panna cotta more

& wife and son had the sake pairing 4x125ml glass sake per pax!

chef Gabriel really incredibly talented..the dishes whether appetiser pasta mains desserts all excellent, and this new set no different.

every dish is good.

it is a big serving 4 course for 1 person, and worth every penny..excellent ingredients, presentation, most importantly taste!

I would say superb…like I said above, the NZ venison loin the best non beef steak I had!

& of course we added alacarte orders-

1. galician octopus
2. lobster pasta (chef Gabriel best of every great pastas)
3. 2 x 120g ohmi A4 wagyu

we just had the excellent grilled octopus at la tapiera yesterday, and we all agree this Galician octopus even better, so tender…

& the lobster pasta here is the best ever I had at any restaurant!

the ohmi A4 wagyu was just awesome…

excellent family dinner, every time, at 8picure…

so glad we were able to organise this family dinner last dine in before return to heightened phase 2 covid no dine in!
