our plans for day 1 was to visit changdeokgung 昌德宫first on 10.11.2016. ^^
since this hastily hatched trip was to catch whatever autumn colours there was, the most important part of changdeokgung was to visit the secret gardens biwon 秘苑. and to do that you need to prebook the guided tour online here.
we were unsure about making it at 11.30am so booked the next available english tour at 1.30pm.
after putting down our bags at the airbnb apartment, we took the subway to anguk station, took the exit 6 as we were early so planned to take a walk + lunch at insadong 仁寺洞. 🙂
the landmark brush at insadong.
i didn’t notice but when googling saw that there was a message inscribed on the brush-
大韩民国传统文化艺术中心仁寺洞
republic of korea traditional culture & arts centre insadong. 🙂
wife knew this place insadong geu jib where she & daughter had very nice raw beef salad.
it’s a hanok traditional house.
the menu was quite standard stuf..
we ordered a raw beef salad + a grilled belly pork with gochujang.
came with 4 bachan side dishes 반찬.
the raw beef salad was quite excellent.
very sweet, tender beef no residue…& a great mix of vegetables.
the belly pork was standard fare. competent.
the 4 bachan side dishes 반찬. korean food quite salty, not the most healthy la… 🙂
some seaweed soup.
a very good lunch. i think 11,000won for raw beef salad & 10,000 for belly pork. ^^
after taht we took a walk along insadong.
the mall was a tiny 3 storey structure.
flower bed on level 2.
young fella making the supper thin dragon beard.
it’s like street entertainment. he was counting to some western tourists – 2,4,8,16,32,64,128 etc till 100,000s…lol. ^^
a good stroll after lunch. didn’t buy anything la…
