Very Nice Coffee @ Coffee Now Here on 2Nov2015

a RI friend organised a makan & coffee eat-drink together on 2.11.2015. ^^

first we had the recently buzzing  ah hoe meepok at blk 710, clementi west street 2 by the japanese 18yr old girl & her father.

after a very satisfying bowl of meepok dry & soup, we proceeded to coffee nowhere (or pronounced coffee now here) at west coast plaza.

it’s the singapore outlet of a cafe that started in johore only 2 years back in dec2013. the name is supposed to evoke like when you are lost (nowhere) & then you are found (now here), i guess discovery of a place you have a connection with?? whatever!

they have 4 different ways of brewing coffee etc, and also sells coffee beans, coffee related products & offer barista training.

cafe mocha

we were just coming here to relax & chill la! 🙂

& the coffee was good! so we make a great find by accident, well actually recommended by this organiser friend who also trying the place first time.

the same guy that brought me to aeiou for a good cuppa. we been hanging out a bit lately.

it happens to be a monday, and monday happens to be the day with 1 for 1 promotion. we ended up ordering 9 coffees for about S$35, not bad!

(btw i think the normal price is too ex w/o the one for one promo & i would not come here as there are so many good coffee places)

we were reading the promo advertising panel at the entrance to the cafe & the website but our ancient brains did not quite follow. it’s always easier to just ask. although in this case the servers (more than 1) seem just as confused how the promo works, whether we need to first spend S$30.

anyhow we got the promo instantly so not complaining except that we had 9 & ordered 5 coffees + 4 free, and only thought we should have gotten 5 free afterwards (i know what my son will say)…what a good laugh…hahaha!

nice coffee

nice coffee

i am quite surprised the coffee was really good. my flat white was very smooth & coffee had rich aroma. i had a very good flat white at habitat in upper thomson (my family favourite but just first time for me). we were rushing & bought takeaway so i did not take photos. i thought coffee nowhere was about the same.

the other great coffee place i had good coffee –

carpenter & cook has great pastries & assembly coffee has a great lemon meringue pie.

Nice Afternoon Cuppa @ aeiou on 28Apr2015

flat white

after a satisfying big prawn noodles at why eat har, a friend suggested going to a retro place for a cuppa on 28.4.2015.

i guess the 2 of us were diehard kopi guys, so we drove in 1 car to king george’s avenue to this place called aeiou.

aeiou

aeiou

aeiou didn’t sound very creative? don’t know. it could be that they are a group that is also into children education, edutainment etc.

aeiou

aeiou

inside was quite interesting, retro as my friend said.

aeiou

& there was a vertical landscape wall, though it didn’t look particularly attractive.

flat white

flat white

flat white was good, smooth & fragrant-

probably about the same as carpenters & cook

also about same as assembly coffee w/o the standard of latte art (not a great differentiator for me)

my personal preference where coffee is concerned –

chye seng huat is better

dutch colony also better.

torn tyre mirror

torn tyre mirror

a torn tyre mirror? pretty cool idea.

oriental antique house

oriental antique house

i supposed cool chic cafe place can be a good way to bring traffic to the antique house. don’t know. 🙂

we did not try the cakes, so my friend suggested we may go again with some friends for the yuzu cheese cake, salted caramel cake & lemon tart. 🙂

Fresh Pastries & Great Coffee @ Carpenter & Cook on 1Apr2015

banoffee, lemon tart, quiche

banoffee, lemon tart, quiche

son was back from london for a very short break. 🙂

he did 10km run with me this morning with my good friend & weekly running partner.

my daughter made the arrangements & we managed to find time to go for a 4pax family coffee/snacks at carpenter & cook this afternoon on 1.4.2015.^^ excellent outing this! wonderful food & ambience. 🙂

retro display

there were price tags on the quaint collections (i spied an old typewriter at S$800!) which included some enamel floral painted plates on the wall, tables & chairs etc. hence carpenter – we were told by the proprietress shenn, who is a pastry chef who pulls the weights for the other part of the name – cook. ^^

banoffee pie

banoffee pie

banoffee pie was excellent! there was a coffee infused top. shenn said it was rare. the toffee was freshly made, very mildly sweet & excellent flavours (different form what i learned for the internet boiling a can of condensed milk in water for 3 hrs).

well, shenn told us her bakery was just downstairs at the same premises & all the pastries were own freshly baked & not from a common supplier. ^^

my own banoffee pie was not too bad but this was of course better. 🙂

lemon tart

lemon tart

lemon tart was very nice also. very mildly sweet (which we liked) & nicely tangy, & a nice crisp tart base.

bacon quiche

bacon quiche

both my daughter & i wanted to try the quiche. we picked the bacon quiche. i thought it was really savoury & nice. we all liked it. i tried a mini quiche previously, not too great, maybe i may try it again.

flat white

flat white

the flat white was smooth & silky, micro foam well blended, & great flavours.

it didn’t have the latte art of assembly coffee. well i guess no latte art at all.

taste wise, it was as good as dutch colony & assembly coffee. maybe chye seng huat was better, couldn’t really remember. it was good anyway.
