children bought mother’s day 5pax family dinner at one ninety four seasons on 7.5.2021.^^

not been back to one ninety for unteemed years almost a decade..

one ninety @ four seasons hotel has amongst the best semi buffet.

the appetisers and dessert semi buffet included a choice of main course…the buffet stations were served..

appetisers were all great..sliced chorizo, pork liver pate, onions, braised pork belly, eggplant..

only cod was so so..

bread was ok seaweed butter greeaweed butter great

dessert platter pedestrian. lemon meringe tart not patisserie standard..

bread & butter good..the cheese platter was good no fruits so took rock melon from appetiser side

the mains were all great..

hokkien mee with lobster excellent broth served with calamansi and sambal as good as best hawkers lol!

wagyu bugger good too..nice patty ok sauce & bun…not enough the burger robust onion flavours….

crabmeat sauce squidink pasta very tasty quite excellent in fact though some reviews said “bland”

braised beef cheek excellent texture, very tender with slight gummy texture..we didn’t prefer the strong beefy red wine flavours..anyway we were too full to “fully” (pun intended) appreciate robust flavoured dish

the bouillabaisse seafood stew include 1/2 lobster & big serving of snapper & large prawns, clams, mussels, a section alaskan crab leg, scallops so top ingredients ..maybe another day i may enjoy this more…just too full..

the bouillabaisse broth though not intense & tasty enough..i like both spicy tomato broth and intense shellfish bisque broths..this one light in both so neither..

all in all an excellent memorable mother’s day dinner!

had good standard laksa $3+$1cockles @ khoon’s katong laksa sembawang hills fc on 6may2021.

my RI bros started this weekly table tennis games…I join when I can…

the hawker centre is quite small and didn’t look exciting except for the popiah stall…the laksa stall looked ok.

laksa gravy lemak & sedap! noodles not overcooked…large cockles but seemed to have been very precooked somewhat tough but safe consumption?

overall I would consider pretty good…

went for early walk 5km to rail mall with wife this morning started 6.50am on 2.5.2021.^^

met brother & sil & WF on the way and we finished at rail mall where brother’s car was parked…

brother brought us to bukit panjang market & fc & bought duck noodles.

there was a queue I guess this zhen wei braised duck noodles quite popular here…

braised duck mediocre not flavourful “pang” quite below par actually. liver, tau kua & egg also pedestrian below par.. plus 1/2duck $23 not particularly cheap too not sure why there was a queue..anyway individual taste..

but the braised duck was poor.

my own braised duck better la anytime..lol!

after makan we walked around the stalls.

and of course grandson mr k is in attendance. 🙂

amo is good standard restaurant…just few shops away from foc…I have not tried foc recently…past experience has been foc food better, tastier and also lower price than amo…especially iberico rack, rack of lamb and squid ink paella & also fiduea.

today we had burrata which is good and competent..

not as good as latteria mozzarella bar….

& very good calamari

we shares a whole lobster pasta also very good…

but for me 8picure lobster pasta is much better..

rack of lamb is good & competent…

I think foc one was better..but foc iberico rack best!

tagliata was ordinary…wife and daughter made such good mirin ribeye steak at home, it’s hard to get better steak,

except 8picure’s ohmi A4 wagyu!

this RI vegetarian bros started by THK…. he and I do vegetarian every 初一十五

one of our first get together was at my house..

I did a 8-course all vegetarian dinner for 8pax on 13.1.2021.^^

this the second RI vegetarian bros get together…

joie is a modern japanese fusion vegetarian restaurant by dozo (which is a modern japanese european restaurant i frequented a lot in the past and my eldest daughter had her 21st birthday party long while back).

the long break I had was since 2015. …recently I came with 3 other friends 2 months back. today is my 4th visit to joie.

my friends were suitably impressed.

the dishes were all good – charcoal tempura, button mushrooms mozzarella as escargot…bai ling mushrooms for japanese paper hotpot, crepes mushroom soup etc.

my monkey head mushroom “steak” on hoba leaf 朴叶good as always.

I have not tried the other 2 main dishes…the wild rice and eggplant terrine looked really good..the layered pastry should be good too…will try next time.

had a great time together and lovely fusion japanese vegetarian …

this was excellent..really delicious burrata very tasty with eggplant..highly recommended

GYS had cream of carrots also nice soup

GYS had gamberi tagliatelle, J grilled organic barramundi (both i tasted..barramundi very good..pasta also tasty)

& i had thd tagliata di manzo..excellent..better than what i had at basilico 2 days back.

GYS had the tiramisu

this 3-course lunch now S$68pax (S$65pax few weeks back) with 1 for 1 amex love dining discounts….excellent value at S$34++pax after discounts…before coffee was included now no…

nice antipasto platter and cheese dessert platters.

for mains NCL had risotto fruit di mare. very tasty I know and excellent risotto.

I had tagliata di manzo beef tenderloin sweet & tender though i like previous sirloin medium rare better.

antipasto famous at basilico and the cheese platter top draw too.

had a wonderful lunch with a close friend.

service at basilico excellent every time…

parking was like S$13.38 and we drove 2 cars…lukily server got us 2 free parking….heng ah!
