agree with Stephen prices are on the high side for the location & ambience more of a cafe
food is good so that makes up for it though not specially good or better than others…
burrata with parma ham $40 not the best ..but doable
truffles pizza $48 good but price clearly way out for me ..I think $28 about it
rack of lamb $36 the best dish tender moist & tasty & a great tasty salad side
tagliata (di manzo) $48 pretty good not the best also great salad a bit ratatouille side
after dinner we had coffee..
server doesn’t know piccolo latte..I had flat white coffee was average I guess..got microfoam & bit of latte art not silky smooth fully integrated..not 1/2 as good as wenyu’s

all good standard
hokkien mee & white beehoon so so mediocre
the live band MOB mark, oliver & bruce starts at 8pm & play 4x45mins periods ..this evening we stayed till 10.45pm…
mostly oldies..jye is the musicpedia knows every song singer history & trivials
a really fun evening..I will join when I can..

seafood squidink past par excellence, everyone favourite.
the experimental beef brisket was very good for a braised meat pasta(24hrs 65degC oven then chopped and braised with tomato beef sauce not quite ragout, excellent with the tagliatelle, and the sliced beef was tender and tasty) though squidink pasta is still the pasta of choice.
everyone agreed best dish was the flamed sous vide aussie pork tomahawk in red wine tomatoes ratatouille…
canard à l’orange (duck in orange sauce =experimental) a small serving, quite good, sauce can be improved.
tiramisu not so good today…didn’t do for few years…couldn’t get the mascarpone I used previously & coffee too much liquid not strong enough…I made a very good tiramisu few days afterwards got all the ingredients right. 🙂

the lobster bun, a newly created dish, was the bestest! live boston lobster very fresh & nicely done, so sweet & tender..not rubbery..
the sauce quite unique, seems not the usual bun cha dip/drip sauce, nutty from brown butter & lobster tomalley..bun (beehoon) nicely infused..
salad was refreshing..
banh seo seafood pancake was very good too..one of the best I had ..with belly pork & prawn & veg filling..
the Vietnamese crisp roll with pork good too
the pho soup was tasty..as philip and steven commented & I concur, broth was very robust & quite a tad sweet..maybe a different preparation & nice in its own way too..but preference is a 清清lighter, natural meat sweetness broth with lots of herb…so lots of thai basil, some mint will be good…
love the Vietnamese coffee, siu siu tai….

包菜鸡锅 was remaking myo’s kia Hiang famous claypot chicken…very nice everyone loved it….
上汤焗班片 also remaking Mao’s dish…good too..this one can improve…poached kailan with scallops & egg white likewise another myo dish.
the lala beehoon was par excellence!
ika sugatayaki- flamed sotong replicating Hwa Seafood signature dish…ok but need more charred flavours….

this my 114th friday breakfast community meal dish at teban gardens community service centre, 5th time on restart after a 2 year hiatus due to covid.
the centre was started in 2002 after much effort & challenge by our RI friend who is a pastor of pasir panjang hill brethren church (pphbc) which owns & runs the CSC.
i first started doing a community meal dish for teban gardens CSC on 8.1.2016.
I started cook a dish for teban gardens on friday unless i am traveling or otherwise indisposed. when I started cooking for HCA, this was reduced to 2 times a month (also 2times a month for HCA) so not overstretching my resources…

水煮鱼very good standard..mala flavourful not really spicy toman fillet quite excellent
passion fruit prawns was excellent ..same preparation as wasabi, yuzu etc & very good standard
korean stone pot wagyu beef fried rice very good..fried rice very fragrant wokhae beef ok standard..can’t complain..
also ordered 3 dimsum-抄手good as expected for a sichuan restaurant..fupeiquin 腐皮卷very good good better than expected..siew mai ok not poor also not canton paradise standard won’t order next time..many other dimsum choices
