really enjoyable dinner

this evening we tried several chef Gabriel new dishes..

hamachi tartar

funghi risotto with foie gras

grilled octopus

wagyu hangar steak

the usual great dishes lobster squidink pasta & ohmi A5 wagyu are just excellent

& the desserts tiramisu & coconut panna cotta just fabulous

all excellent

cannot find fault leh..

grilled octopus I agree with sulin la tapiera better..texture was perfect but didn’t have the charred bbq Smokey flavours

agree with Stephen prices are on the high side for the location & ambience more of a cafe

food is good so that makes up for it though not specially good or better than others…

burrata with parma ham $40 not the best ..but doable

truffles pizza $48 good but price clearly way out for me ..I think $28 about it

rack of lamb $36 the best dish tender moist & tasty & a great tasty salad side

tagliata (di manzo) $48 pretty good not the best also great salad a bit ratatouille side

after dinner we had coffee..

server doesn’t know piccolo latte..I had flat white coffee was average I guess..got microfoam & bit of latte art not silky smooth fully integrated..not 1/2 as good as wenyu’s

excellent lunch..last time I was here was 2018 for wai mun surprise birthday party by jessie..& before that maybe 20-30yrs

surprisingly very good

1. suckling pig was best I had, better than imperial treasure & chao shan..very meaty, excellent flavours, crispy skin, not salty..best of the best!
2. roast duck was excellent, very tasty, flavourful, tender, moist-I decided to change from the signature pressed chicken to roast duck cos same price & review photos for chicken looks very different from restaurant photos..
3. platter S$84 good but not worth the price won’t order next time
4. claypot lamb good standard very tender not too lamby nice sauce though I feel not tasty enuf..actually I think the $7 柴船头 mutton rib soup more tasty lol!!!
5. 港蒸笋壳hk steamed soon hock 1.1kg very fresh sweet great sauce never fails
6. cereal prawns 500g very nicely done..very fresh prawns tasty cereals too
7. dried scallops chinese cabbage excellent dish very sweet & got 50% off voucher so $28
8. I got the cheaper $36 chicken crabmeat yeemeen very tasty if cannot find crabmeat or chicken lol! 😜😜😜

very good dishes..

the lobster bun, a newly created dish, was the bestest! live boston lobster very fresh & nicely done, so sweet & tender..not rubbery..

the sauce quite unique, seems not the usual bun cha dip/drip sauce, nutty from brown butter & lobster tomalley..bun (beehoon) nicely infused..

salad was refreshing..

banh seo seafood pancake was very good too..one of the best I had ..with belly pork & prawn & veg filling..

the Vietnamese crisp roll with pork good too

the pho soup was tasty..as philip and steven commented & I concur, broth was very robust & quite a tad sweet..maybe a different preparation & nice in its own way too..but preference is a 清清lighter, natural meat sweetness broth with lots of herb…so lots of thai basil, some mint will be good…

love the Vietnamese coffee, siu siu tai….

had 3pax lunch with philip & leng khiang at my favourite chirashi don place Ishinomaki on 14.6.2022.^^

the premium chirashi don excellent here, S$39 lunch set inc chawanmushi, salad & miso soup. the alacarte dinner chirashi don basically same serving is S$60 standalone item…

there are about 15 cuts including uni, chutoro, hamachi, hirame, sawara, kajiki, salmon, majuro, ikura, tamago etc…only things missing are anago & botanebi (which Mikuni serves)..they should consider having these serving options and increase the price accordingly…

the sushi rice also very tasty…I take very little carbs..the rice serving is small..still sometime I asked for 1/2 rice serving.. usually I will still finish the rice…

cabbage so infused with stock…very tasty gravy and chicken sweet, falling off the bones, tender and not dry or sinewy..will try to make this..

poached garoupa fillet lots of ginger and browned garlic…again great wokhae very good stock..this also I will make at home..

tofu very tasty crisp outside tender inside…
