my OPS friend organised a walk at bukit timah hill this morning 9am on 26.12.2016. ^^
5 of us going.
friend arranged to meet at the visitors’ centre.
i was expecting a full carpark at 9am so thought of going from jln bingka or king albert park.
looking at the map, might as well walk from greenleaf view.
i started a little late about 8.15am, so was about 10mins late at the visitors’ centre.
a pleasant walk along the rail corridor.
soon i arrived at the place where they were doing drainage project & diversion work.
the path was dry before this part.
but because of the heavy vehicles & rain, there were muddy parts, so some long jump obstacles enroute. 🙂

joggers, mostly foreigners
a few joggers.
more muddy parts.
some rolling stock & the signage were what’s left of the bukit timah railway station.

paved road on the right leading to blackmore drive to bukit timah road, king albert park station
nearing the bukit timah crossing.
crossed the bridge over bukit timah & dunnearn road.
jln bingka is a convenient place to park & walk.
i knew i would be about 10mins late, the time required from here to the visitors’ centre.
passed the PIE anak bukit flyover.
& arrived at the track leading down to hindhede road (on the right) soon after.
the entire hindhede drive was parked with cars.
it’s a short walk form the public carpark to the visitors’ centre.
carpark was full at 9.08am, quite expected.
the 3.33 km walk from greenleaf view along the rail corridor to bukit timah hill visitors’ centre took about 46mins.
we took the moderate route 3, which goes by the south view path, then cave path.
it’s a nice walk, now a wide maybe 2m laid path, just reopened in oct2016 after a 2-year restoration & enhancement.
we passed the south view hut. next section is the cave path.
passed the barricaded cave.

undergrowth

hand holding = muscle memory from primary school
hand holding = muscle memory carryover from OPS primary school. 🙂
after passing the catchment hut, we walked up the steps leading back to the road.

the last flight of steps to summit
which leads to the summit steps.
the 2 ladies took the road around to the summit bypassing the steps.
reached the 162.63 summit. constant queue but managed to take some group photos at the summit stone. ^^
there are 2 telecom towers.
why is the telecom tower sengget?
we walked down the paved road.
took a shot of the sky through the canopy. 🙂
a friend was saying why there were no monkeys along the trail??
because they were busy rummaging the treasure gardens of the private houses along hindhede drive!
the round trip journey up via route 3 south view path & down the paved road at bukit timah hill was 3.75km & took 1.5hrs.
my smart friend parked over at the public roadside parking next to courts & accessed directly to hindhede drive across the overhead bridge.
here we had a nice view of the telecom towers.
a very fun & relaxing walk on a boxing day morning. time for some nice makan!
