few of us visited a RI friend DP on 25.3.2022.^^

he recovered quite well..his mom is already 90 still very strong.

soon hing & wife were his close friend visiting from australia…

he bought lots of makan from Geylang Serai.. the lontong especially good, very tasty and lemak..and surprise surprise got cuttlefish inside…

we had too much food, not complaining…

soon hing & wife now retired, resident in Melbourne and now visiting Bangkok Thailand for 3 months.

very bad extremely bad service by manager guy!!!

tea lady was quite nice & good service..

food was poor vs expectation for history and this level of restaurant

appetiser platter really poor..trotter jelly not flavourful no feel of collagen..spring roll etc

what is worse than appetiser platter is the braised duck platter ..I think most hawker stall braised duck kuay chap stall better

the $30 sharksfin was excellent though..the stock was really sweet & smooth never mind the straws of sharksfin..this the stand out dish..

the tipor kailan was competent

& the teochew fried kuay teow was good too good woke..

so I guess food wise 3 stars maybe ok

however worse than bad service by manager in coat is the self defeating practice of overcharging the written menu price hoping customer missed it!

really poor service philosophy…

the kailan charged $20 (menu $18) and the fried kway teow $22 (menu $18)..

for a 4pax meal $304nett charging extra $6 is meaningless & downright silly..

hope restaurant will rethink their business & service philosophy.. what is the right thing to do..

anyway when pointed out to the waiter he did not admit till we refer to the written menu price & wasn’t sure how was the restaurant going to respond..saying the kitchen or chef wrote the price to charge..???

but later they finally did the right thing & correct it & correctly charge the menu price, but without showing and giving you a feel that they recognise the importance of such “error” & will not repeat on other customers.. anyway it’s their problem to address… 😂😎

& lots of flies around the table & land on food several times while we eating

today vegetarian day for me so I took the $18.95 caprese vegetarian …mediocre barely pass I guess better than the pasta.

after makan we walked down kampung bahru road. @3 is closed, another casualty of the pandemic1 so we had coffee next door…ambience no comparison but at least coffee is good and service cheerful and competent. NO FLIES!

excellent food as always.

today quite big abalones offer S$12 ea, and I think razor clams ex so decided to just take abalones..very good fresh and sweet, nicely prepared.

we had the small 1.1kg Australian rock lobster..so much meat, tapao home.

deep-fried tilapia almost 99% anyway as good as soon hock at 1/2 the price..crispy and excellent hk steamed sauce..

& claypot 姜葱田鸡always good la…

dimsum standard was good, maybe not quite imperial treasure standard..’

hargao, 小笼包, siew mai and chiu chơ fun guo all good..

char siew soh was good but not my favourite..I prefer crispy char siew pao…

cheong fun good ok not the best, smooth and sauce ok, steamed pork ribs good standard..lor mai gai ok ..

GK wanted some carbs so we ordered san loh hor fun..good standard too..

overall about 1/3 cheaper than imperial treasure so quite ok for the price…
