Wenyu cooked black angus 100 days grain fed ribeye + lamb fillet (wife cooked the other piece of steak)
& crab pasta one creamy one alio olio.
seafood stew was very good. like the tomato flavour.
meats were always good. wife added mirin and served with sliced onions t soak up the juices.
son’s crabmeat pasta always good. i liked the alio olio version a bit more.
& SL baked a lemon yogurt cake. very good 👍
had a really nice father’s day dinner thanks to wife and children.
a very blessed and happy man indeed! 🙂

there were techoew steamed pomfret, chilled pek tor (rabbit fish), 3 steamed giant prawns, fried egg omelette with silver baits and fried bittergourd.
the children are out this evening , and wife and i had a quiet, nice dinner. 🙂

my brother & his helper cooked dinner for us & delivered this evening – 3 dishes 蛋炒粉丝、咖喱鱼头、白灼肉on 30.5.2020.^^
the belly pork was nice with the garlic chilli vinegar蒜泥醋. and nice fish head and tanhoon. :-)
this period of covid , singapore implemented circuit breaker for 8 weeks. cannot eat out and visit, so mostly cook at home and order in meals.
i cooked for my brother’s 6pax family and delivered on 2 occasions, and my brother did the same for me last and this saturday.
it’s quite fun too. 🙂

this evening i assigned food taster, so just wait and eat do nothing lol! ^^
our helper aunty bes, made 4 dishes-
chicken wings, my wife bought the mid-wings and calamari were all excellent.
crabmeat pasta deserves special mention.
this a dish “created” by my son, and perfected by all = son, wife and aunty bes. so there is no need for me to learn how to make this. lol! 🙂
& this evening’s crabmeat pasta was excellent too, as always, everytime i tried.
she used good quality canned crabmeat, fresh tomatoes and good tomato paste, and cream…and pasta was al dente..i think all of us made very good al dente pasta..

by the best of traditions, CJ hosted his annual 14bros+HCK CNY steamboat featuring the round round things (this edition round brown things aka canned braised abalones) and bak kwa blind test..
with large angka prawns & usda prime shabu beef, and red garoupa fillet..wa seh!
plus homemade chicken rice, chilli, stock base from 2 whole chickens.
this year also added atas fruits- yellow dragon fruit, giant cherries & S$14 a piece japanese mikan..

wife made 5pax dinner on 9.9.2019. ^^
excellent beef don, tako kakiage & oven roast pork ribs.
usda prime ribeye was excellent! wife added mirin and sake when charring the beef.
don was sprinkled with japanese garnishing and ribeye slices topped with wasabi, exactly like beef don restaurants.
tako kakiage done like calamari, just using japanese octopus. and oven baked baby ribs were tasty and fell of the bones. very good indeed!

wife decided this morning to make home 海底捞 dinner today on 1.7.2018.
all came – JH, PT, ervin and we had 8pax dinner. full house.
i had some crispy bean curd.
and some beef shabu. 500g packet.
and cut 2 medium white pomfret.
wife ordered some kurobuta from qbfood earlier.
and bought some cheese and fish tofu and a ‘her kiao’ fish dumpling.
and we had shitake and shimeji mushrooms and baby corn..
most important are the sauces, like if you go 海底捞or huating steamboat.
i made the 沙茶酱mixed with 麻辣chilli with lots of chopped garlic and chinese celery. wife made fried onion oil. scallions and light soy sauce.
steamboat is the easiest food to prepare. aunty bes made the ikan bilis and yellow bean stock. all the other ingredients just buy and we had a wonderful 8pax family dinner. no effort.

ingredients were all good.
i loved the chiili and garlic. must have the sweet sauce.
the skin was on the thicker side for me, prefer thinner ones.

i made 2 popiahs.
and ate 1 kongbakpao. nice braised pork.

FM and KS bought birthday cake for WM.
today i made about 800g+ char siew, 5 strips.
there were too much food today so we decided not to serve the char siew, so i dropped 2 strips at WT place on the way, and passed 3 strips to WM.
missed WT and M today. and unexpected welcome attendance by SG and Ma. 🙂

daughter wanted to eat at home on 28.2.2019. 🙂
aunty bes was cooking this 7pax dinner..wife made ribeye steak.
i had 1/2 chicken in the chiller so decided to make chicken rice chicken 白斩鸡.
and i wanted to experiment grilled pork ribs.
it turned out quite beautifully. i was quite sure the texture would be great…i did 180degC for 1hr 40mins and 250degC for 20mins.
i wasn’t sure if my marinade would be ok.. i used 2 tbsp mustard, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp olive oil, and rubbed sea salt, black pepper and sprinkled dry parsley and rosemary…
it turned out quite tasty. son said nice a few times. maybe i will try less herb and just a tad more honey. mustard was great!
my 白斩鸡 was the usual, nice, not my best but good enough with the chilli and the sauce dip.
wife’s ribeye steak was great especially over japanese rice, like donburi. 🙂
and aunty bes made a tasty sambal prawns. she cooked all the other dishes this evening.
and cuttlefish kang kong.
we all love brussel sprouts.

enjoyable food and time together. youngest daughter coming back late so we kept food for her. 🙂
