didn’t meet meng ghee for a long while just keeping up and chatting occasionally on JD.

the lunch sets, pho, bun cha etc priced at about S$10 & S$11 were pretty good and include a drink, a rice paper roll & pho or bun (beehoon)..we shared mixed platter which had good belly pork, tofu, rolls and also pate (for making banhmi.

a enjoyable lunch and catching up.

this committee’s first outing over 2 yrs…:-)

the rice paper rolls…were great…nice dip sauce and the belly pork done well.

eel porridge is a north vietnamese dish..even cheow ghee 5 yrs in hcmc not tried before. it is unique and really good, and so much ingredients, prepared very fresh live eels..a really excellent dish.

lobster bun is perfect dish…live lobster fresh and sweet, and the lobster tomalley (liver, roe etc) totally infused into the beehoon..

(bun is beehoon in vietnamese..as in bun cha, one of the most popular vietnamese dish beehoon with ngor hiang and pork)

this dish even better than the best lobster pasta I had, which is at 8picure…

the jap wagyu was excellent too..and perfectly grilled and matched with the king oyster mushrooms…

had a really enjoyable lunch with RI bros and friends.

turtle soup was good ..I not take maybe 10yrs liao..enjoyed it the gelatinous parts organs and all..soup was very good

but actually no better than a simple pig organ soup at cheng chee mun kee..enjoyed that more so no need to take turtle soup la for me

S$7 claypot rise was good..better than expected fragrant flavourful..more than enuf for 5pax though stall owner tried to coax me to order S$15 lol!

S$6.50 ter kar also good ..nothing special no better than my own

hak chong bought a large mutton rib soup..

this I don’t like..very poor..among the worst I had..

柴船头far far ahead unreachable..

mutton ribs totally overbooked no texture no sweetness..soup is light overly sweet unnatural sweetness not meat savoury sweetness..really bad..

I took only 1 rib & a little soup like 1/5 bowl that’s it enuf for me

this stall has the best 白斩鸡in Singapore, super smooth, sweet, best tasting & texture..rice & chilli excellent too..

only issue is price..

used to be S$18 for 1 whole chicken becos it is a small chicken (kampung chicken size) ..after malaysia stopped imports, in a space of few weeks went from S$18 to S$32..the arithmetic a bit problematic..business looks like dropped 2/3 whatever…

the drumstick is very tiny…but nice leh…

always like this place..

more of comfort food done competently..tasty and not too expensive.

ordered the favourite dishes – duck salad, oyster crispy egg sheets, fish maw soup, sea cucumber duck and noodles.

few other items like kongbakpao also good. I don’t order cos carbs…the sambal crayfish also good but quite expensive like S$45 for 3 large crayfish…I guess actually ok but we didn’t need today…
