Risshaku-ji, commonly known as “Yamadera” (Mountain Temple)
risshaku-ji
a 1000yrs ancient temple
proudly stands on the steep cliff
perched on the summit of autumn woods and maple leaves.
riding atop commandingly
upon seemingly drifting, floating red clouds
high up and looking down
over the entire city
dharma (natural laws) in the gate of buddhism
consciousness immersed in a fairyland
temple stand guard over 1000 years of snowfall
a time of listening to the rain in the deep mountains
devotees and visitors
embark on a spiritual journey
climbing one thousand and fifteen steps
in pursuit of practice and worship
the bodhi is not a tree (the truth of nothingness)
the clear mirror is in the heart (not in the material world)
letting go of attachments
comprehending the cycle of life and death.
(the budhhist teaching of) discipline, meditation, wisdom
purifying the mind
meditative state into prajna 般若(supreme wisdom and awareness of nothingness and the true underlying nature of the material world, existence and impermanence)
a tranquil heart attains liberation (from suffering the endless repeated cycles of birth, aging, sickness, death)
